Safeguarding Officer
Temporary
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
Are you an experienced safeguarding professional looking to make a direct difference to learners' welfare and wellbeing?
About the Role
An education provider is looking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to help protect and support learners across the organisation, with a start date of October 2026. You'll act as one of the designated officers, leading on safeguarding, Prevent and learner welfare.
You'll respond to concerns promptly and accurately, offering immediate support where young people and vulnerable adults are at risk, and helping learners build the confidence to access support services independently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Handling safeguarding and welfare enquiries by email and phone in line with guidelines.
- Supporting learners facing challenges such as mental health difficulties or care leaver status to remain on their courses.
- Providing crisis intervention and immediate support to keep young people and vulnerable adults safe.
- Following up on safeguarding incidents in line with legal requirements.
- Managing a caseload of learners, assessing risk and coordinating interventions or referrals.
- Maintaining accurate electronic records and liaising with parents, staff and external agencies.
- Working with colleagues across teams to ensure smooth transitions and ongoing support for high-needs learners.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Relevant experience in a safeguarding capacity
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Prevent frameworks
- Experience supporting young people in education or community settings
- Excellent communication, organisation and report writing skills
- Availability to start quickly and support from day one
- Full right to work in the UK
