Job Description

Safeguarding Officer

Temporary | Contract

Location: the East Midlands

Start date: 7 October 2026

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider as a Safeguarding Officer, playing a central part in protecting and supporting learners across the organisation.

You'll respond to safeguarding and welfare concerns as they arise, making sure each one is dealt with promptly and recorded accurately, and you'll work alongside colleagues, families and external agencies to keep learners safe and supported in their studies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to safeguarding and welfare enquiries and ensuring concerns are addressed promptly and in line with guidelines.
  • Supporting vulnerable learners and those facing additional challenges to remain engaged with their courses.
  • Providing immediate support and crisis intervention where young people or vulnerable adults are at risk.
  • Following up on safeguarding incidents in line with legal requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date electronic records.
  • Working with colleagues and external agencies to coordinate interventions and referrals.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Relevant experience in a safeguarding capacity
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Prevent frameworks
  • Experience supporting young people in an education or community setting
  • Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills
  • Full right to work in the UK
