Job Description

Personal Development Coach

Temporary | Contract

Location: the East Midlands

Start date: 1 October 2026

Are you passionate about supporting young people to get the most out of their studies?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider as a Personal Development Coach, working alongside learners to help them stay engaged, build confidence and plan their next steps. You'll be the person they come to when something is getting in the way of their progress, and the person who helps them put a plan in place.

No formal teaching qualification is required — what matters is genuine enthusiasm for supporting learners and the ability to build trust with young adults.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting learners one to one to review progress and set targets.
  • Providing pastoral support to learners throughout their programme.
  • Monitoring attendance, timekeeping and behaviour, and acting on any concerns.
  • Supporting learners with their next steps, including UCAS applications, apprenticeships, further study and employment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 2 or above in English and maths
  • Experience working with young adults
  • Enhanced DBS check, or a willingness to obtain one

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Knowledge of additional learning needs
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training, or a willingness to obtain it

If you're ready to help learners achieve more than they thought they could, we'd love to hear from you.
