Learning Support Assistant
Temporary
Location: London
Start date: October 2026
Are you passionate about helping learners with additional needs build confidence, independence and real progress?
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant with a further education provider, you'll work alongside teaching staff to provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs, helping them access their studies and get the most from college life.
You'll build positive, trusting relationships with the students you support, adapting your approach to suit individual needs and encouraging them to work with growing independence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional needs.
- Working alongside teaching staff to help students access the curriculum and complete their work.
- Encouraging learner confidence, independence and engagement.
- Supporting learners in line with their individual learning plans.
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A genuine commitment to supporting learners with additional needs
- The ability to build rapport with young people and adults
- Patience, sensitivity and strong communication skills
- The ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience in a learning support role
- Experience of working within the further education sector
- An understanding of how an EHCP informs the support a learner receives
