Learning Support Assistant
Temporary
Start date: October 2026
Are you passionate about supporting learners to overcome barriers and reach their potential?
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant with a further education provider, you'll work alongside teaching staff to give learners the individual attention that helps them engage, make progress and grow in confidence.
You'll deliver one-to-one and small-group support, adapting your approach to suit different needs and learning styles. Your patience and encouragement will help learners build the skills and independence they need to succeed.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting learners individually and in small groups both in and out of the classroom.
- Working alongside teaching staff to reinforce learning and deliver interventions.
- Encouraging learners to build confidence, motivation and independence.
- Adapting resources and support to remove barriers to learning.
- Monitoring and feeding back on learner progress to teaching colleagues.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience of supporting learners with additional needs
- Patience, empathy and strong communication skills
- The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with learners
- The ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience of working within the further education sector
- An understanding of how an EHCP informs the support a learner receives
