Are you an experienced hair and beauty professional who wants to help learners with additional needs build skills, confidence and independence?

About the Role

As a Hair and Beauty Lecturer with a further education provider, you'll deliver practical and theory-based hair and beauty sessions to learners with special educational needs and disabilities. You'll adapt your teaching to suit each learner, drawing on your industry experience to make sessions engaging and accessible.

You'll plan and prepare lessons, assess progress and support learners throughout their programme, working closely with support staff and the wider team.

If you come from industry rather than teaching, that's welcome. Where relevant, the provider offers support to help you develop your teaching practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering inclusive practical and theoretical hair and beauty sessions.
• Adapting teaching and learning materials to meet individual learner needs.
• Assessing and monitoring learner progress and providing constructive feedback.
• Supporting learners to develop confidence, independence and employability skills.
• Maintaining a safe and productive classroom and salon environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Vocational experience in hairdressing, beauty therapy or a related area
• A genuine interest in supporting learners with SEND or additional learning needs
• Strong communication skills and a patient, encouraging approach

Desirable (but not essential):

• A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or DET
• Previous experience teaching or assessing in a post-16 setting
