SEN Tutor
Temporary | Contract
Start date: October 2026
Are you an experienced SEN practitioner who enjoys working with young people one to one?
About the Role
An education provider is looking for an SEN Tutor to deliver personalised tuition to learners with special educational needs. You'll plan sessions around each learner's individual needs, interests and communication style, building the confidence and routine that helps them engage with their learning.
You'll work closely with families, colleagues and other professionals involved in each learner's support, keeping records of progress and adapting your approach as needs change.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering tailored one-to-one tuition for learners with SEND.
- Adapting resources and teaching approaches to suit individual learning and sensory needs.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with learners and their families.
- Monitoring, recording and reporting on learner progress.
- Liaising with colleagues and external professionals to support each learner's outcomes.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience supporting learners with special educational needs
- A patient, calm and flexible approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to plan and adapt learning for individual needs
Desirable (but not essential):
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, CertEd or an equivalent teaching qualification
- A qualification in SEND, autism or inclusive education
