Are you an experienced English teacher who enjoys helping learners gain the qualification that opens the next door for them?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider in the North West as an English Lecturer, delivering GCSE and Functional Skills English to learners studying across a range of programmes.

You'll plan and teach lessons that work for mixed-ability groups, many of whom are resitting and arrive with little confidence in the subject. Alongside the teaching, you'll track progress, mark work and give the kind of feedback that keeps learners moving towards their target grade.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering engaging GCSE and Functional Skills English lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
• Planning schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments in line with provider policies.
• Tracking learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
• Supporting learners with gaps in their knowledge, building both skill and confidence.
• Working with curriculum colleagues to embed English within wider study programmes.
• Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive, inclusive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience teaching GCSE English in further education or secondary education
• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, DET or the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
• Strong understanding of the GCSE specification and effective resit strategies
• Ability to differentiate and adapt your teaching to varied learning needs
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one

Desirable (but not essential):

• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area
