Student Achievement Tutor

Location: South East London
Contract: Term Time Only

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential?

We are recruiting for a Student Achievement Tutor to deliver tutorials, enrichment and pastoral support while helping learners prepare for their next steps.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging weekly group tutorials covering safeguarding, pastoral topics, careers, social action and study skills.
  • Conduct 1-to-1 sessions and support students to set and achieve SMART targets.
  • Manage a student caseload and monitor progress.
  • Support attendance, behaviour and engagement interventions.
  • Identify learners who may be at risk of non-achievement and put appropriate support in place.
  • Support students with careers, progression and intended destinations.
  • Monitor work experience, enrichment, Gatsby activities and stretch & challenge.
  • Work closely with curriculum, safeguarding, wellbeing and support teams.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Support students with safeguarding concerns and signpost them to appropriate services.
  • Maintain accurate student records and track engagement and impact.
  • Deliver UCAS sessions and support students with personal statements.

The role will manage an average caseload of 15 tutorial groups and around 300 students, making strong organisation and relationship-building skills essential.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience working with young people.
  • Experience delivering group sessions and 1-to-1 support.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • An understanding of the challenges facing young people.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and multi-agency working.
  • Experience in FE is desirable.
  • The ability to engage and motivate young people.
  • A calm, empathetic and supportive approach.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

The role requires someone who can relate to and empathise with students from different ages, backgrounds and abilities, while working effectively with staff, students and external organisations.

Requirements

Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy required.

A relevant degree, such as Youth Work, and previous FE experience are desirable but not essential.
