Job Description

Nursery Manager

Temporary | Contract

Location: the East of England

Start date: 6 October 2026

About the Role

As Nursery Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day running of a nursery provision within an established education provider, making sure every child is cared for in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.

You'll take responsibility for the team around you — supporting practitioners, organising staffing and setting the standards of practice you expect to see across the setting. You'll also work closely with parents and carers, building the kind of relationships that help children settle, grow and thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the nursery and the quality of care delivered.
  • Leading, supervising and developing the nursery team.
  • Ensuring provision meets statutory requirements and safeguarding standards.
  • Overseeing planning, observation and assessment so that every child's development is supported.
  • Building strong working relationships with parents, carers and colleagues across the organisation.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience of working in an early years setting
  • Experience of leading or supervising a team
  • A relevant early years qualification
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding and statutory early years requirements

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous experience at nursery manager level
  • Experience of working within a wider education provider

If you're ready to lead a nursery team and give children the best possible start, we'd love to hear from you.
