Are you a maths specialist who enjoys helping learners build the confidence and numeracy skills they need to progress?

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider as a Maths Lecturer, delivering GCSE and Functional Skills maths to learners across a range of study programmes. Many of your learners will be resitting, so you'll meet them where they are and help them close gaps in their knowledge.

You'll plan and prepare schemes of work and resources, assess learner work and track progress, working alongside colleagues in the maths team and across the wider curriculum.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering engaging and accessible maths sessions to learners of mixed abilities.
• Planning and preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
• Marking learner work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
• Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
• Monitoring attendance, progress and achievement, and putting support in place where needed.
• Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience of teaching GCSE or Functional Skills maths within further education or secondary education
• A maths-specific qualification or strong numeracy background
• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DET or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
• Ability to differentiate and adapt your teaching to varied learning needs
• Strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable (but not essential):

• Understanding of effective GCSE resit strategies
• Experience of teaching maths alongside vocational programmes
