Learning Support Assistant
Temporary | Full Time | 35 Hours per Week
Monday to Friday, 8.30am–4.30pm or 9am–5pm
Location: the South East

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant with a training provider, you'll join a group learning support team supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
You'll work closely with teaching staff to support students both in and out of the classroom, including learners with autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health needs. Your patience and encouragement will play a key role in helping students achieve independence, confidence and success in their education and future pathways.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND, from entry level through to GCSEs and Level 3 courses.
- Assisting students to access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
- Supporting the development of independence, life skills and employability skills.
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Adapting resources and approaches to meet individual needs.
- Working collaboratively with tutors and support services.
- Supporting students with personal care and medication requirements where needed.
- Attending and completing relevant training, including personal care, medication and manual handling training.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above
- A patient, empathetic and positive approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build trusting relationships with students
- Flexible, proactive and able to work as part of a team
- A commitment to inclusion and safeguarding
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience of working with young people or adults with SEND
