Learning Support Assistant
Temporary | Contract
Location: the West Midlands
Start date: 14 September 2026
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Learning Support Assistant to join a further education provider in the West Midlands. You'll work alongside tutors and curriculum teams to support learners in the classroom, helping them to access their studies and build confidence in their learning.
You'll provide encouragement, practical assistance and a consistent, supportive presence throughout the working day, helping every learner to take part fully in their programme.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support to learners with additional learning needs.
- Assisting tutors with the delivery of sessions and the preparation of learning materials.
- Helping learners to access the curriculum and develop independent learning skills.
- Monitoring learner progress and feeding back to tutors as needed.
- Promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment for all learners.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience supporting young people or adults in an education, care or community setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, adaptable approach and a genuine commitment to inclusive learning
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience working with learners with SEND or additional learning barriers
- A relevant qualification in education, support work or youth work, or a willingness to work towards one
