Job Description

Health & Safety Advisor

Temporary | Contract

Are you a health and safety professional who can advise with authority and help an organisation keep its standards consistently high?

About the Role

As a Health & Safety Advisor with a further education provider, you'll provide practical, credible advice on health and safety across the organisation, supporting staff at all levels to work safely and meet their legal responsibilities.

You'll help keep policies, risk assessments and records in good order, support audits and investigations, and work alongside colleagues to close gaps and strengthen a positive safety culture.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising managers and staff on health and safety legislation, compliance and best practice.
  • Supporting the implementation and review of health and safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • Reviewing risk assessments, incident reporting and investigations, and following up on actions.
  • Supporting audits and inspections, tracking actions through to completion.
  • Contributing to health and safety training and inductions.
  • Maintaining accurate health and safety records and statutory reporting.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Level 3)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety law and practical risk management
  • Experience advising on compliance and improving health and safety standards within an organisation
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to challenge constructively

Desirable (but not essential):

  • NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6), or working towards it
  • IOSH membership, or willingness to work towards it
  • Experience within an education setting

If you're ready to bring your health and safety expertise to an organisation that takes its standards seriously, we'd love to hear from you.
