Chef Lecturer
Temporary
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
Are you an experienced chef looking to pass your kitchen knowledge on to the next generation of hospitality professionals?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in Yorkshire and the Humber, delivering professional cookery to learners working towards their qualifications. You'll plan and teach practical and theory sessions that bring real kitchen practice into the training environment, helping learners build the technical skills and discipline employers expect.
You'll assess learner work, track progress and give constructive feedback, working alongside curriculum colleagues to keep learners engaged and on course.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging professional cookery sessions to groups of mixed ability.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessment materials.
- Assessing practical and written work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress, attendance and achievement.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen discipline.
- Supporting learners to develop their employability and progression options.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in professional cookery
- Substantial industry experience in a professional kitchen
- Confidence teaching and supporting learners of mixed ability
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- An assessor qualification
- Previous experience of teaching in further education
