English Lecturer
Temporary
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
About the Role
A further education provider in the region is looking for an English Lecturer to join its teaching team. You'll deliver engaging English lessons to post-16 learners of varying abilities, helping them build the skills and confidence they need to achieve their qualifications and progress into work or further study.
You'll plan and prepare your own sessions, assess learners' work and track their progress, giving the timely feedback and encouragement that keeps students moving forward.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, accessible English lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learners' work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
- Maintaining accurate records of attendance, achievement and progress.
- Working collaboratively with curriculum and learner support colleagues.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience of teaching English within further education or secondary education
- Ability to adapt and differentiate teaching to varied learning needs
- Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills
- Ability to motivate and support post-16 learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DET or QTLS
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area
