Brick Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the West Midlands
Are you an experienced bricklayer looking to pass your trade on to the next generation?
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Brick Lecturer to join a further education provider in the West Midlands. You'll deliver practical workshop sessions and classroom theory across brickwork programmes, drawing on your own industry experience to prepare learners for careers in construction.
You'll plan and prepare your sessions, assess learners' work and support them through their studies, helping them build the practical skills, technical knowledge and professional behaviours the industry expects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering practical workshop and classroom-based teaching across brickwork programmes.
- Planning and developing lesson plans, schemes of work and learning resources.
- Assessing learners' work and providing constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and supporting achievement.
- Maintaining a safe, organised workshop environment in line with industry standards.
- Providing academic and pastoral guidance to learners.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in brickwork
- A strong industry background in bricklaying and masonry
- Good communication and workshop management skills
- An understanding of current industry standards and safe working practices
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching qualification, or previous teaching or assessing experience
- Experience of working with apprentices or young people
