Job Description

Electrical Engineering Lecturer

Temporary | Contract

Location: the West Midlands

Start date: 5 November 2026

Are you an experienced electrical engineering professional looking to pass your knowledge on to the next generation?

About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Engineering Lecturer to join a further education provider in the West Midlands. You'll deliver classroom theory and practical workshop sessions across electrical engineering programmes, drawing on your own industry experience to prepare learners for careers in the sector.

You'll plan and prepare your sessions, assess learners' work and support them through their studies, helping them develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours employers expect.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering classroom-based and practical workshop teaching across electrical engineering programmes.
  • Planning and developing lesson plans, schemes of work and learning resources.
  • Assessing learners' work and providing constructive feedback.
  • Monitoring learner progress and supporting achievement.
  • Maintaining a safe, organised workshop environment in line with industry standards.
  • Providing academic and pastoral guidance to learners.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 3 qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, or equivalent
  • Relevant industry experience within the electrical engineering sector
  • A genuine interest in developing others and sharing your technical knowledge

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching, assessing or training learners
  • Knowledge of vocational engineering qualifications

If you're new to teaching, that's not a barrier — the provider welcomes applications from experienced industry professionals and offers mentoring and ongoing development to support your move into further education.

If you're ready to use your industry experience to shape the engineers of tomorrow, we'd love to hear from you.

What's on Offer

  • Mentoring and ongoing development support for those new to teaching
