Job Title: Education Manager

Location: HMP Wormwood Scrubs (Shepherd's Bush, London, W12)

Salary: £45,000 + £5,000 London Weighting per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

PeoplePlus has a exceptional senior leadership opportunity for an Education Manager to lead and develop the education provision on-site at HMP Wormwood Scrubs. In this pivotal role, you will shape educational strategy, drive quality assurance, and lead a high-performing team focused on equipping adult learners with the skills, confidence, and accredited qualifications needed for successful reintegration and employment upon release.

What You Will Be Doing

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the prison's education strategy aligned with Ministry of Justice and organizational priorities, driving a culture of educational excellence, innovation, and rehabilitation.

• Operational & Resource Management: Oversee the day-to-day delivery of all educational and vocational programmes, managing timetables, staffing levels, physical resources, and departmental budgets to maximize impact.

• Quality Assurance & Ofsted Readiness: Implement robust quality frameworks, conduct classroom observations, analyze learner achievement/attendance data, and lead self-assessment reporting (SAR) in line with Ofsted's Education Inspection Framework (EIF).

• Team Development & Wellbeing: Lead, mentor, and inspire tutors, lecturers, and support staff; conduct performance reviews; and foster a supportive, inclusive working environment.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Partner closely with HMPPS leadership, prison governors, awarding bodies, local employers, and external agencies to ensure curriculum alignment with real-world labor market demands.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualifications: Degree and/or relevant professional qualification alongside a Level 5+ Teaching Qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, QTLS, or equivalent). An Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification is required (or willingness to achieve upon appointment).

• Leadership Experience: Proven track record in senior educational management, team leadership, curriculum design, and staff performance management within FE, adult learning, or prison education settings.

• Quality Mastery: Thorough knowledge of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF), quality assurance audits, and performance tracking systems.

• Core Skills: Outstanding communication, strategic planning, budget management, and a firm commitment to safeguarding, equality, and student-centered rehabilitation.
