Job Description
Welding Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the West Midlands
Start date: 12 October 2026
Are you an experienced welding professional looking to pass your skills on to the next generation of fabricators?
About the Role
As a Welding Lecturer, you'll deliver practical and theoretical welding sessions to learners working towards their qualifications, helping them build the technical skills and confidence the industry expects. Teaching will take place in both workshop and classroom settings.
You'll join a supportive team at a further education provider in the West Midlands, where you'll create a safe, inclusive environment in which learners can develop at their own pace.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality practical welding training in the workshop.
- Teaching the underpinning theory that supports safe and effective welding practice.
- Assessing learners' work and giving clear, constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and providing support where it's needed.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the curriculum.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in welding or a closely related discipline
- Recent industry experience in welding
- A genuine interest in developing others and sharing your knowledge
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Assessing or IQA qualifications
- Experience of delivering apprenticeship training
If you don't have teaching experience, that needn't hold you back — we welcome applications from industry professionals who are ready to move into a classroom and workshop setting.
