Job Description
Safeguarding Officer
Temporary
Location: Yorkshire and the Humber
Are you an experienced safeguarding professional who wants every learner to have someone in their corner?
About the Role
You'll join an education provider as a Safeguarding Officer, acting as one of the designated officers and leading on safeguarding, Prevent and learner welfare across the organisation.
You'll be a first point of contact for safeguarding and welfare concerns, responding promptly and following each case through to the right outcome. You'll support learners facing significant challenges — including mental health difficulties, care leavers and vulnerable adults — helping them stay on their programme and build the confidence to access support independently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to safeguarding and welfare enquiries by email and phone in line with guidelines.
- Providing immediate support and crisis intervention to keep young people and vulnerable adults safe.
- Following up on safeguarding incidents in line with legal requirements.
- Supporting high-needs learners to remain on and complete their courses.
- Managing a caseload of learners, assessing risk and coordinating interventions or referrals.
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date electronic records.
- Working with parents, colleagues and external agencies to ensure continuous support.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Relevant experience in a safeguarding capacity
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Prevent frameworks
- Experience supporting young people in education or community settings
- Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills
- Availability to start quickly and support from day one
- Full right to work in the UK
If you're ready to make a real difference to the safety and wellbeing of learners, we'd love to hear from you.
