Job Description

SEMH Lecturer

Location: East London
Contract: Part-time, Temporary
Start: ASAP
Hours: 32+ hours per week
Working Pattern: Across 5 days

Are you an experienced SEMH/SEND Lecturer, specialist teacher or alternative provision professional?

We are recruiting for a part-time temporary SEMH Lecturer working with small groups of learners with primary SEMH needs, often alongside autism, ADHD and other neurodiverse needs.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Deliver English, Maths, tutorials and personal/social/study skills.
  • Support learners with SEMH and barriers to learning.
  • Build positive relationships with challenging or disengaged learners.
  • Promote positive behaviour, attendance and engagement.
  • Monitor and assess learner progress.
  • Support EHCP targets and progression planning.
  • Work closely with LSAs, pastoral teams and external professionals.

About You

  • Essential: Full Level 5 teaching qualification – PGCE, Cert Ed or DET.
  • Significant experience working with SEMH/SEND learners.
  • Experience managing challenging or disengaged behaviour.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience delivering English and Maths.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and multi-agency working.
  • A resilient, patient and adaptable approach.
