Security Guard
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South West
Are you an experienced security professional who enjoys working with young people?
About the Role
We're recruiting a Security Guard to join a further education provider in the South West. You'll help maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment across site, working closely with staff to support a positive culture for learners.
You'll be a visible, approachable presence day to day, building rapport with learners and responding calmly when issues arise.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting site tours to encourage lanyard use and respectful behaviour.
- Supervising behaviour across designated areas.
- Monitoring common rooms during break times.
- Responding to incidents involving unauthorised individuals on site.
- Building rapport with individuals and reporting those at risk to the safeguarding team.
- Reporting breaches of the code of conduct.
- Communicating regularly with the safeguarding and tutorial team to support a safe culture.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous security experience, ideally in a public-facing environment
- Proven ability to work effectively with young people and vulnerable adults
- GCSE (or equivalent) qualification
- Willing and able to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
- Professional, reliable and approachable, with excellent communication skills
