Science Technician
Temporary
Location: the East of England
Start date: October 2026
About the role
A further education provider is looking for a practical, well-organised Science Technician to support the smooth running of its laboratories. Working alongside the teaching team, you'll make sure practical sessions are properly prepared, resourced and safe for learners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, setting up and clearing away equipment, materials and reagents for practical teaching sessions and demonstrations.
- Maintaining, servicing and checking laboratory equipment so it is ready for use.
- Supporting teaching staff during practical sessions and assessments.
- Upholding health and safety standards across all laboratory areas, including the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals.
- Managing stock levels and ordering consumables so resources are available when required.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- A relevant science qualification or equivalent practical laboratory experience
- Good working knowledge of laboratory equipment, materials and safe working practices
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous technician experience in a further education or training environment
