Science Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the East Midlands
Start date: September 2026
Are you a science specialist who would enjoy passing on your subject knowledge to the next generation of learners?
About the Role
A further education provider in the East Midlands is looking for a Science Lecturer to join its teaching team. You'll deliver engaging lessons across science programmes, supporting learners to build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to progress into further study or employment.
You'll be part of a supportive department and will have the scope to bring your own subject expertise into the classroom and the laboratory.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering high-quality teaching across science programmes.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment materials.
- Carrying out practical sessions that support learners to achieve their qualification.
- Monitoring learner progress and providing timely feedback and support.
- Contributing to curriculum development and maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification or higher in a science-related subject
- Strong subject knowledge across the sciences
- The ability to engage and motivate a diverse group of learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience of teaching or assessing in a further education setting
