Job Description

Science Lecturer

Temporary

Location: the East of England

Start date: 8 September 2026

Are you a science professional or graduate looking to inspire the next generation of scientists?

About the role

You'll design, plan, deliver and assess engaging science programmes for a further education provider, combining practical laboratory work with the underpinning theory learners need to succeed.

Working across a range of levels, you'll help learners build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to progress into further study or employment. You'll create a positive and supportive learning environment, monitor learner progress and adapt your teaching to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.

If you come from industry rather than teaching, that's welcome. Our client offers support to help you move into education and develop as a lecturer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, planning, delivering and assessing science programmes across a range of levels.
  • Delivering a mix of practical sessions and underpinning theory.
  • Monitoring learner progress and providing timely feedback.
  • Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • Subject knowledge and experience relevant to teaching science
  • The ability to plan, deliver and assess across a range of levels
  • A commitment to supporting learners from a range of backgrounds

Desirable (but not essential):

  • A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
  • Previous experience of teaching or assessing in further education

If you're ready to bring your science expertise into the classroom and laboratory, we'd love to hear from you.

What's on Offer

  • Support for those transitioning from industry into teaching
  • Support to work towards teaching qualification
