Start date: 26 August 2026
Are you a science specialist who wants to help post-16 learners build the knowledge and confidence to progress?
About the role
As a Science Lecturer, you'll plan and deliver engaging theory and practical sessions that build the subject knowledge, scientific skills and professional confidence your learners need to succeed. You'll make the science relevant and achievable for students working across a range of levels and programmes.
Working with a further education provider, you'll teach across the science programme, adapting your approach to a range of abilities and helping every learner progress. You'll monitor progress closely and give the feedback and encouragement that keeps students on track.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering science lessons that are engaging and well structured.
- Preparing schemes of work, resources and assessments that support progression and achievement.
- Carrying out practical work safely and in line with the specification.
- Marking work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Tracking learner performance and putting interventions in place where needed.
- Contributing to curriculum development so that content stays current and relevant.
What we're looking for
Essential:

- The ability to engage and motivate learners of differing abilities
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience of teaching or assessing in a post-16 setting
If you're ready to help the next generation of scientists take their next step, we'd love to hear from you.
