About the Role

You'll join a further education provider as a Safeguarding Officer, playing a vital part in protecting and supporting learners across the organisation. You'll respond to safeguarding and welfare concerns promptly and accurately, making sure young people and vulnerable adults get the help they need when they need it.

You'll work closely with learners facing additional challenges, helping them build the confidence to access support independently while stepping in with crisis intervention where it's required.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Handling safeguarding and welfare enquiries, ensuring they are dealt with in line with guidelines.
• Supporting vulnerable learners to remain engaged with and complete their courses.
• Following up on safeguarding incidents in line with legal requirements.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date electronic records.
• Liaising with parents, staff and external agencies as needed.
• Managing a caseload of learners, assessing risk and coordinating interventions or referrals.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Relevant experience in a safeguarding capacity
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Prevent frameworks
• Experience of supporting young people in an education or community setting
• Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills
• Availability to start quickly and support from day one

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience of working in a further education setting
