Job Description

Mechanical Engineer Lecturer

Temporary

Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional looking to inspire the next generation of engineers?

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer Lecturer, you'll deliver engaging, high-quality teaching across mechanical engineering programmes for a further education provider, helping learners build the technical knowledge and practical skills they need to progress into industry.

You'll plan, prepare and assess learning activities that support student progression, combining workshop-based practical sessions with classroom theory, and contribute to curriculum development that keeps pace with current industry standards.

If you're moving into teaching from industry, that's welcome here. You'll be supported with mentoring and ongoing development to help you make the transition into the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering engaging and effective teaching across mechanical engineering programmes.
  • Planning and preparing lessons, schemes of work and learning materials that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Assessing and monitoring learner progress and providing constructive, timely feedback.
  • Embedding current industry practices and standards into your delivery.
  • Ensuring safe working practices within workshops and learning environments.
  • Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A minimum NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Relevant industry experience within a mechanical engineering environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learner success

Desirable (but not essential):

  • HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • A recognised teaching qualification

If you're ready to pass on your engineering expertise to the next generation of technicians, we'd love to hear from you.

What's on Offer

  • Mentoring support for industry professionals transitioning to teaching
  • Ongoing professional development
