Foundation Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South East
Are you a Foundation Learning or SEND lecturer looking for your next opportunity?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider to deliver Foundation Learning provision, supporting learners to build confidence, independence and the practical skills they need for adult life.
You'll plan and teach differentiated sessions that respond to individual needs and EHCP outcomes, and you'll work alongside Learning Support Assistants to keep the classroom purposeful, safe and supportive.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to Foundation Learning students.
- Adapting teaching, resources and activities to meet individual learner needs and EHCP outcomes.
- Supporting learners to develop communication, independence and everyday life skills.
- Monitoring, assessing and recording learner progress.
- Promoting positive behaviour and strong learner engagement.
- Working closely with Learning Support Assistants and other professionals.
- Contributing to review and progression planning.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A recognised teaching qualification suitable for further education (PGCE, Cert Ed or DET)
- Experience teaching SEND learners or delivering Foundation Learning programmes
- Understanding of EHCPs and person-centred approaches
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- An Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience with Pre-Entry or low-level learners
- Experience supporting learners with autism, learning difficulties or complex needs
