Public Services Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the West Midlands
Start date: 13 October 2026
Are you an experienced public services professional looking to pass your knowledge on to the next generation?
About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Public Services Lecturer to join a further education provider in the West Midlands. You'll deliver engaging teaching across public services programmes, drawing on your own background to bring the subject to life for learners preparing for careers in the uniformed and public services.
You'll plan and prepare your sessions, assess learners' work and support them through their studies, helping them build the knowledge, discipline and confidence they'll need to progress.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging teaching across public services programmes.
- Planning and developing lesson plans, schemes of work and learning resources.
- Assessing learners' work and providing constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and supporting achievement.
- Providing academic and pastoral guidance to learners.
- Contributing to curriculum development and maintaining accurate course records.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Relevant experience within the public or uniformed services
- A Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant subject
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to supporting learners and helping them achieve
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience teaching or assessing in a further education setting
