Post-16 Transition Studies Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East of England
Start date: September 2026
Are you an experienced education professional who enjoys helping young people with SEND build the confidence and independence to take their next step?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider as a Post-16 Transition Studies Lecturer, delivering engaging sessions to learners with SEND and additional learning needs and supporting them to develop the skills they need for adult life.
You'll plan and deliver differentiated, learner-centred programmes, track progress and work closely with learning support and wider curriculum colleagues so that learners get the right help at the right time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging Post-16 Transition Studies sessions to learners with SEND and additional needs.
- Supporting learners to develop independence, employability, communication and life skills.
- Planning and delivering differentiated, learner-centred programmes.
- Monitoring learner progress and contributing to individual support and development plans.
- Working closely with learning support, SEND and wider teams.
- Helping learners prepare for employment, further education, independent living and adult life.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience teaching or supporting learners in further education, SEND, specialist education or post-16 settings
- A strong understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching practice
- Experience planning and delivering engaging learning activities
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A relevant teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed or DET
