Job Description

Personal Development Tutor

Temporary | Contract

Location: the East Midlands

Are you passionate about supporting young people to get the most out of their education?

About the Role

A further education provider in the East Midlands is looking for a Personal Development Tutor to join its learner support team. You'll work closely with students to keep them engaged, motivated and on track to achieve their qualifications.

You'll provide pastoral support alongside practical guidance on what comes next, helping learners plan their progression into further study, apprenticeships or employment. No formal teaching qualifications are required — what matters is genuine enthusiasm for supporting learners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Holding one-to-one meetings with students to discuss progress and set targets.
  • Providing pastoral support to learners across the provision.
  • Monitoring and acting on issues with timekeeping, attendance and behaviour.
  • Supporting learners with next steps, including UCAS applications, apprenticeships, further study and work.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths
  • Experience working with young adults
  • An Enhanced DBS check, or a willingness to obtain one

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Knowledge of additional learning needs
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training, or a willingness to obtain it
  • A background in care or learner support

If you're ready to help the next generation take their next step, we'd love to hear from you.
