Performing Arts Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East Midlands
Start date: September 2026
Are you an experienced performing arts professional looking to inspire the next generation of performers?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the East Midlands, delivering performing arts teaching across studio and classroom settings. You'll draw on your own experience of the industry to bring the subject to life for learners preparing for careers in performance and the creative sector.
You'll plan and deliver practical and theory sessions, assess learner work and support individuals to progress, working alongside an established curriculum team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, industry-relevant sessions in performing arts.
- Teaching and assessing learners in both studio and classroom environments.
- Developing teaching and learning resources that reflect current industry practice.
- Assessing learner work and giving timely, constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and supporting individuals to achieve their qualifications.
- Contributing to high standards of teaching, learning and assessment within the curriculum team.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A relevant qualification in performing arts, or equivalent professional experience
- Industry experience in performance or a related creative discipline
- Confidence teaching, assessing or instructing learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- An assessor qualification
- Previous experience of teaching in further education
