Music Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the West Midlands
Start date: 8 October 2026
Are you an experienced musician looking to pass your knowledge and craft on to the next generation of performers and producers?
About the Role
As a Music Lecturer, you'll deliver engaging, well-structured teaching across music programmes, helping learners build the technical skills, creativity and confidence they need to progress into further study or employment.
You'll join a supportive team at a further education provider in the West Midlands, where you'll plan lessons, assess learners' work and create an inclusive environment in which students feel motivated to achieve.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering music lessons across a range of levels.
- Teaching both practical sessions and the underpinning theory.
- Assessing, marking and giving constructive feedback on learners' work.
- Monitoring learner progress and providing support where it's needed.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the curriculum.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in music, or significant professional experience in the industry
- Strong subject knowledge across practical and theoretical music
- The ability to engage and motivate learners of differing abilities
Desirable (but not essential):
- A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
- Previous experience teaching or assessing in a further education setting
