Mechanical Engineering Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the South West
Start date: 8 October 2026
Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional looking to inspire the next generation of engineers, or an established lecturer seeking your next opportunity?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the South West to deliver high-quality teaching, training and assessment across mechanical engineering programmes. Your work will combine practical workshop sessions with classroom-based theory, helping learners build the skills, knowledge and behaviours the engineering sector expects.
Applications are welcome from both qualified teachers and industry professionals looking to move into further education.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons across mechanical engineering programmes.
- Preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Assessing learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintaining accurate records in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
- Embedding current industry practice and standards into your delivery.
- Ensuring safe working practices within engineering workshops and learning environments.
- Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Relevant industry experience within an engineering environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A genuine interest in developing learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- HNC or above in mechanical engineering
- A recognised teaching qualification
