Mechanical Engineering Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the West Midlands
Start date: 15 September 2026
Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional looking to inspire the next generation of engineers?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider to deliver high-quality teaching across mechanical engineering programmes, combining practical workshop sessions with classroom-based theory. You'll support learners to build the skills, knowledge and behaviours the engineering sector expects.
We welcome applications from experienced lecturers and from industry professionals looking to move into further education.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons across mechanical engineering programmes.
- Preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Assessing learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Embedding current industry practice and standards into your delivery.
- Ensuring safe working practices in workshops and other learning environments.
- Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A relevant qualification in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Industry experience within a mechanical engineering environment
- Strong subject knowledge and a genuine interest in developing learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Experience of teaching or assessing in further education
