Mechanical Engineering Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the West Midlands
Start date: September 2026
Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional looking to inspire the next generation of engineers?
About the Role
You'll join the engineering team at a further education provider in the West Midlands, delivering mechanical engineering teaching across both practical workshop sessions and classroom-based theory.
You'll support learners to build the skills, knowledge and confidence they need for successful careers in engineering, and you'll bring your own industry insight directly into the classroom. Applications are welcome from qualified lecturers and from industry professionals looking to move into further education.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons across mechanical engineering programmes.
- Preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Assessing learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintaining accurate records in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
- Ensuring safe working practices within workshops and learning environments.
- Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Relevant industry experience within a mechanical engineering environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A genuine interest in developing and supporting learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification
- Previous experience of teaching or assessing in further education
