Mechanical Engineering Assessor
Temporary | Contract
Start date: September 2026
Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional looking to pass your technical expertise on to the next generation?
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider to assess learners working towards mechanical engineering qualifications, judging their knowledge and practical competence against the relevant standards.
You'll work with learners at varied stages of their training, planning assessments around their progress, giving clear feedback and making sure evidence is recorded accurately and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out assessments of learners' knowledge, skills and occupational competence.
- Planning and scheduling assessment activity around learner progress.
- Providing clear, constructive feedback and supporting learners to work towards their next steps.
- Maintaining accurate assessment records and evidence in line with awarding body requirements.
- Working with colleagues and employers to keep learners on track to achieve.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Industry experience in mechanical engineering
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A commitment to supporting learners to achieve
Desirable (but not essential):
- An assessing qualification (TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/D33)
- Experience of assessing within further education or work-based learning
