Job Description

Mechanical Engineer Lecturer

Temporary

Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional ready to inspire the next generation of engineers?

About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer Lecturer, you'll deliver practical and theoretical teaching across mechanical engineering programmes for a further education provider, helping learners build the technical knowledge and hands-on skills they need to progress into industry.

You'll plan and lead engaging sessions in both workshop and classroom settings, adapting your approach to suit learners at different stages of their development. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll play a key role in shaping confident, work-ready students.

If you're moving into teaching from industry, that's welcome here. You'll be supported with mentoring and ongoing development to help you make the transition into the classroom.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering practical and theoretical mechanical engineering lessons.
  • Assessing learners' work and providing constructive, timely feedback.
  • Monitoring learner progress and supporting individuals to achieve their goals.
  • Maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop and classroom environment.
  • Embedding current industry practice and standards into your teaching.
  • Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Relevant industry experience within a mechanical engineering environment
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A genuine interest in supporting learners to succeed

Desirable (but not essential):

  • An HNC or higher in mechanical engineering
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • Previous experience of teaching, assessing or mentoring

Shape the Next Generation of Engineers

If you're ready to pass on your engineering expertise and help learners build careers in the sector, we'd love to hear from you.

What's on Offer

  • Mentoring and ongoing development support for industry professionals transitioning to teaching
