Maths Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the South East
About the Role
As a Maths Lecturer, you'll deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment across GCSE and Functional Skills maths at a further education provider, supporting learners on a range of vocational programmes to build the numeracy skills and confidence they need for work, further study and everyday life.
Working closely with colleagues in the maths team and across the wider curriculum, you'll adapt your teaching to mixed-ability groups, keep learners motivated and help them close gaps in their knowledge.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering accessible maths lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Tracking learner progress, marking work and providing timely feedback.
- Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
- Working collaboratively with the maths team and wider curriculum staff.
- Maintaining high standards of classroom management and a positive learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience of teaching GCSE or Functional Skills maths in further education or secondary education
- A strong numeracy background or maths-specific qualification
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DET or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
- Understanding of effective GCSE resit strategies
