Maths Lecturer
Temporary | Contract
Location: the North East
Start date: 5 October 2026
Are you a confident mathematician who enjoys helping learners build the numeracy skills they need for work, study and everyday life?
About the Role
An education provider in the North East is looking for a Maths Lecturer to join its teaching team. You'll deliver engaging, well-planned sessions to learners of mixed abilities, many of whom are working towards maths alongside their main programme of study.
You'll track progress, give clear feedback and help learners who have struggled with the subject in the past to rebuild their confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering accessible maths lessons to learners of varying abilities.
- Preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learners' work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge to build confidence and motivation.
- Working alongside the wider maths and curriculum teams.
- Maintaining a positive, well-managed learning environment.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience teaching maths in further education or secondary education
- A maths-specific qualification or strong numeracy background
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd, DET or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
