Maths Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the North West
Start date: 23 September 2026
About the Role
You'll join a further education provider in the North West, delivering maths to post-16 learners working towards the qualifications they need to progress into employment or further study.
You'll plan and deliver engaging sessions to learners of mixed abilities, many of whom are resitting maths as part of their study programme, building confidence in those who have found the subject difficult in the past.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering accessible maths teaching across a range of groups and ability levels.
- Planning and preparing schemes of work, lesson resources and assessments.
- Marking learners' work and providing timely, constructive feedback.
- Monitoring learner progress and supporting those with gaps in knowledge.
- Working with curriculum colleagues to support achievement and retention.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A degree or Level 3 qualification in maths or a related subject
- Experience teaching maths to post-16 or secondary learners
- Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills
- Ability to adapt teaching to a range of learning needs
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd or DET
- Understanding of GCSE and Functional Skills specifications and resit strategies
