Maths Lecturer
Temporary
Location: the East of England
Start date: September 2026
Are you a maths specialist who enjoys helping learners build the confidence to pass?
About the Role
You'll join the maths team at a further education provider, delivering engaging lessons to learners working towards their maths qualifications alongside their wider study programmes.
You'll plan and deliver sessions, assess learner work and track progress, giving the feedback and encouragement that keeps learners moving forward. You'll also work alongside colleagues across the curriculum to support learners who have gaps in their knowledge.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and accessible maths lessons to learners of mixed abilities.
- Planning schemes of work, resources and assessments that support achievement and progression.
- Assessing learner work, giving timely feedback and monitoring progress.
- Supporting learners with gaps in knowledge, building their confidence and motivation.
- Maintaining accurate records of attendance, achievement and outcomes.
- Working collaboratively with the maths team and wider curriculum colleagues.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Strong subject knowledge in maths, with a relevant qualification or numeracy background
- Experience of teaching maths in further education or secondary education
- Ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to varied learning needs
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
- A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS, PGCE, CertEd or Level 5 DET
- Understanding of effective resit strategies
