Machinist Lecturer (Temporary)

Machinist Lecturer

Temporary

Location: the East of England

Start date: 25 August 2026

Are you an experienced machinist looking to pass your skills on to the next generation?

About the role

You'll design, plan, deliver and assess engaging machining programmes for a further education provider, combining practical workshop training with the underpinning theory learners need to succeed.

Working across a range of levels, you'll bring your industry experience into the workshop, helping learners build the knowledge, skills and confidence that employers value. You'll create a safe and supportive learning environment, monitor learner progress and adapt your teaching to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.

If you come from industry rather than teaching, that's welcome. Our client offers support to help you move into education and develop as a lecturer.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, planning, delivering and assessing machining programmes across a range of levels.
• Delivering a mix of practical workshop sessions and underpinning theory.
• Monitoring learner progress and providing timely feedback.
• Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Adapting teaching approaches to meet the needs of individual learners.

What we're looking for

Essential:

• A recognised qualification in machining or engineering, or equivalent industry experience
• Strong practical and technical knowledge of machining operations
• A commitment to supporting and motivating learners

Desirable (but not essential):

• A teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards one
• An assessing qualification
• Previous experience of teaching, assessing or instructing

If you're ready to bring your machining experience into the workshop and shape the next generation, we'd love to hear from you.
