Learning Support Assistant

Temporary | Part Time | 16.5 Hours per Week

Location: the North East

Salary: £17.50 per hour via umbrella

Are you an experienced learning support professional who is passionate about helping post-16 learners with additional needs achieve their potential?

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant with a training provider, you'll support post-16 learners with additional learning needs to access their programme, engage with their studies and build confidence in their chosen direction.

You'll draw on your knowledge and experience of working with young people with Education, Health and Care Plans, adapting your approach to the individual learner in front of you. Working within a supportive team, you'll help create a calm and inclusive environment where every learner can progress.

This is a term time only role of 44 weeks, working Monday 9:00–12:30, Tuesday 9:00–16:00 and Wednesday 9:00–16:00.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting post-16 learners with additional learning needs to access and engage with their programme.
  • Working closely with learners who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
  • Helping to create a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Adapting your support to the different social, cultural and physical needs of learners.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A minimum of two years' experience working with post-16 learners
  • Knowledge and experience of working with post-16 learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)
  • GCSE, 'O' Level or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English
  • NVQ3 or equivalent as recognised by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • Knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of learners
  • Training in aspects of SEN, such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism and SEMH
  • A calm and patient attitude
