Learning Support Assistant
Contract | Start date: September 2026
Location: Birmingham
Pay - £16.00 per hour Umbrella

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work alongside teaching staff at a further education provider to give learners the individual support they need to succeed. You'll play a key part in making sessions accessible, engaging and inclusive for every student.
Working across the classroom, you'll support learners on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping them to build confidence, develop independence and stay on track with their studies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting learners individually and in small groups to access the curriculum.
- Working closely with lecturers to adapt materials and activities to meet learner needs.
- Helping learners to build confidence, independence and study skills.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
- Monitoring learner progress and feeding back to teaching staff.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A genuine commitment to supporting learners with additional needs
- Patience, empathy and strong communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff
- A flexible and proactive approach
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience supporting learners in an education setting
- A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning
- Experience working with learners with additional learning needs
