Learning Support Assistant

Contract - Full-time

Location: East Riding of Yorkshire

Start date: September 2026

About the Role

You'll work alongside teaching staff to support learners with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence in their studies. This is a hands-on role, working directly with students in classrooms, workshops or other learning environments to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

You'll build positive, encouraging relationships with learners, adapting your approach to suit individual needs and circumstances.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting individual learners or small groups within lessons, under the direction of teaching staff.
• Helping to adapt learning materials and resources to meet a range of needs and abilities.
• Encouraging learner independence, confidence and engagement.
• Supporting learners with literacy, numeracy or specific learning difficulties as required.
• Providing pastoral support and acting as a positive role model.
• Liaising with teaching staff to monitor and feed back on learner progress.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Experience working with young people or adults in a support, care or education setting
• A patient, encouraging and adaptable approach
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• A willingness to work as part of a team alongside teaching staff

Desirable (but not essential):

• Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs or disabilities
• A relevant qualification in learning support, teaching assistance or a related field
• Knowledge of strategies to support literacy, numeracy or SEND
