Lecturer Supported Learning

Temporary

Location: the East of England

Are you a teacher who enjoys helping learners with additional needs build confidence, independence and the skills to take their next step?

About the Role

A further education provider in the East of England is looking for a Lecturer in Supported Learning to deliver teaching and learning to students with SEND, including learners with EHCPs.

You'll plan and deliver differentiated sessions that develop communication, independence and life skills, adapting your approach to each learner's individual needs. You'll work alongside learning support staff and specialist colleagues to make sure every student can access the curriculum and progress towards their goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for learners with SEND.
  • Developing learning around individual needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Assessing, monitoring and recording learner progress.
  • Supporting positive behaviour, engagement and attendance.
  • Working closely with Learning Support Assistants and other professionals.
  • Contributing to reviews and progression planning.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching learners with SEND, learning difficulties or complex needs
  • Understanding of EHCPs and person-centred approaches
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • A patient, flexible and learner-focused approach

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience of teaching at Entry Level or Pre-Entry Level
  • Experience of working within further education

If you're ready to help learners with additional needs achieve more than they thought they could, we'd love to hear from you.
