Job Description

Learning Support Assistant

Employment Type: Permanent, Term-Time only

Hours: Full-Time

Salary: £24,577 - £25,192 per annum - actual annual salary £21,355 - £21,890

Are you an empathetic, patient, and tech-savvy support professional driven by the belief that every young person deserves an equitable pathway to independence? We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated Engineering, Science and Computing department.

In this role, you will be the architect of a student's confidence and success. Working alongside lecturing staff and specialist teams, you will empower young people with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, D/deaf learners, physical access needs, visual impairments, and speech or language needs, to access STEM and technical curricula fully.

Benefits:

  • True Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a stable term-time-only structure (38 weeks per year), leaving your academic holidays completely free.
  • Generous Pension: Membership in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
  • Specialist Department Impact: Work within high-spec technical environments, supporting students across engineering, IT, computing, and science pathways.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Access comprehensive training opportunities, including support qualifications, moving & handling, and assistive technology coaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with lecturing staff to adapt classroom resources responsively, enlarging text, modifying carrier language, and utilising enabling technologies.

  • Support students both inside and outside the classroom with reading, note-taking, word processing, and metacognitive skill development.

  • Empower young people to achieve their personalised learning outcomes, reviewing individual support needs and tracking progress against EHCP goals.

Requirements:

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 standard). Holding or working towards a Level 2 Learning Support Qualification is highly desirable.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or done within last 3 months.

Even if you don't meet every single criteria listed, if you are a resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting students and a willingness to learn, we would still love to hear from you.

Could this be your next challenge? Please apply via this page with a copy of your CV.
